UAWC opens a food processing unit for Al-Mahaour cooperative
Ramallah- the Union of Agricultural Work Committees opened a food processing unit for Al-Mahaour cooperative in the governorate of Hebron with the participation of representatives from Hebron governorate, Directorate of Education, Al-Mahaur cooperative, and CARE International
Ghasan Abu Isninah, Director of Al-Mahaour cooperative, focused on the UAWC’s roles to strengthen the steadfastness of the governorate’s people, which considered one of the most isolated and vulnerable areas in the West Bank because of the Israeli constant violations
In same context, UAWC’s acting director, Fuad Abu Saif, pointed out that the UAWC has proven its presence over the past years in the southern part of Palestine, and will never hesitate to provide any support for women cooperatives for the sake of improving Palestinian women’s roles and their standards of living
It is important to note that this activity comes within ” Transitioning from Relief to Sustainable Livelihoods (R2S): Strengthening Food Security in West Bank and Gaza”, project which is funded by the Canadian International Development Agency in partnership with CARE International Foundation activities.
The project aimed at improving sustainable livings for those most affected by the conflict and food insecurity in 26 localities in the villages of Beit Ula, Seir, Khilet Saleh, Tawani, Yatta, Dora, Samu, Bani Naim, Al-Shiokh, Halhul, Beit Ummar, Surif in the Governorate of Hebron and Ooodla, Awarta, Beta, Yatma, Jammai’n in the Governrate of Nablus and Battir, Al-Khader, Wade fuckin, Nahaleen, Shawawrah in the Governorate of Bethlehem and Gaza City, the central region, Beit Hanoun, Khan Younis, Beit Lahia in the Gaza Strip
These activities come under the light of UAWC’s national and development role in empowerment of farmers and their families and strengthen their steadfastness
