“UAWC”: Japanese volunteers participate in the Olive Harvest

Ramallah – Japanese volunteers participated in picking olives in Bil’in and Ni’lin villages in Ramallah province, and Madama and Burin villages in Nablus. However, these villages witness continuous attacks by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) on farmers, especially that the majority of their lands are located behind the wall.

This came within “The Land is Ours” campaign, launched by the Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC) to support farmers in picking their olives, especially in areas behind the Wall and near colonies. This was through calls by the Union to international and local volunteers within the “defending our Rights” project, funded by the Norwegian People’s Aid.

“The Land is Ours” campaign aims at strengthening the steadfastness of the Palestinian farmers on their land, and facilitate their access to their land during the Olive Harvest Season. Moreover, to protect them from attacks by colonizers and IOF, where the Union coordinated with international and local volunteers within a program prepared to support farmers in villages near the Wall and colonies. However, the Union launches international campaigns to support farmers in the Olive Harvest Season under different slogans each year.
