UAWC held the First Preparatory Meeting of Palestinian Peasants Movement
>The participants expressed their desire to join this movement and agreed to conduct zonal meetings in all Gaza Governorates in order to identify the movement and mobilize more farmers to join it; since they believe that this movement will be the independent body which will protect and defend all farmers’ rights
Moreover، Ziadah explained that the registration process to join the movement will begin in the first week of September in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and then we can conduct the founding conference and elect a coordinating body by the end of the year.
It should be noted that UAWC has obtained a full membership in International Peasant Movement “La Via Campesina”. Thus, the UAWC recently became a representative of Palestine in this international movement aiming to build a strong peasants movement locally and in the Arab world. “La Via Campesina” is the world’s largest independent social movement holds it in about 200 million farmers around the world, in addition to 183 agricultural organizations in 88 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas
