UAWC distributes Agricultural materials to reinforce the Palestinian farmers’ steadfastness
Ramallah, the Union of Agricultural Work Committees distributed households gardens’ materials for twenty rural women in Al-Mughair village, in the governorate of Ramallah, including 40 water tanks, 23,000 meters of irrigation networks, and 20 electric water pumps, with cooperation of “GFA “and is funded by the German cooperation” GIZ “.
UAWC’s project coordinator, Dr. Moayyad Bsharat, confirmed that the next phase of the project will include the distribution of irrigation systems and household gardens, as well as distribution of water pumps, and vegetables’ seedlings which include thyme, sage and cauliflower. The project also includes 20 training courses for women increase their awareness of the importance of household garden cultivation.
Bisharat clarified that the project aims to strengthen the steadfastness of Palestinian farmers in the Jordan Valley, mitigate the impacts of climate change on their lands, and provide an additional source of income to ensure their right of food sovereignty
Until this day, UAWC was able to distribute 5000 meter of irrigation networks, and 5.25 tons of organic fertilizer (compost) for 82 persons of the village Zubaydat in the governorate of Jericho and the Jordan Valley
