“UAWC concludes the establishment of 12 water tanks in Hebron and Bethlehem
Ramallah- the Union of Agricultural Work Committees concluded the establishment of 12 tanks in Khirbet Al-Deir , Surif, and Safa in the governprate of Hebron, and Za’tara in the governorate of within “ Juthoor: Land, Water, and Human Resource Development in Vulnerable Areas of the West Bank ” which is funded by the European Union and cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture
The UAWC stressed on the importance of the establishment of water wells as a result of the growing needs of the Palestinian farmers of large amounts of water, under the light of water scarcity due to the Israeli occupation theft of 85% of the water resources. The UAWC confirmed that this type of wells is the first in its kind in the south part of the West Bank that depends on rainwater harvesting from soil and greenhouses.
Moreover, the UAWC stressed on the importance of implementing such activities in area “C” because of the Israeli restrictions on water facilities that prevents from the establishment of an entity composed of reinforced concrete. In the same context, the Israeli occupation issued stop work against three wells.
