UAWC celebrates the World Environment Day
Ramallah – The Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC) organized a series of activities to celebrate the World Environment Day in the West Bank and Gaza Strip in coordination with the agricultural committees and the fishermen committees.
The activities were launched in the Gaza Strip, the agricultural and fishermen committees implemented a voluntary activity that aimed to clean the beach west of Al-Zahra’ city. Moreover, two awareness campaigns were provided to the farmers and fishermen regarding the environmental circumstances in addition to the effects of the misuse of pesticides and chemical medicines.
In the West Bank, a workshop to increase the environmental awareness was provided in the Governorate of Qalqilia along with planting saplings in public places and schools in the village of Azoun in participation of the agricultural committees in the Governorate.
The environment day activities are within “Defending Our Rights” project that is funded by the Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA).
