UAWC begin installing solar energy panels and rehabilitating a number of agricultural wells in Gaza Strip
Gaza – the Union of Agricultural Work Committees begun installing Solar Energy panels for a number of agricultural committees and cooperatives in the Gaza Strip, within the project ” Market Oriented and Sustainable High Value Crops Sector Development in the West Bank and Gaza Strip “, which is funded by the Netherland government and is implemented by the UAWC in partnership with FAO.
The project includes installation of seven solar energy units in order to help these committees carry out their activities during the power outage, in an attempt to overcome the problem of constant power cuts in the Gaza strip.
This comes under the light of the UAWC’s mission to conduct a complete development in Gaza Strip by convert the assistance from just relief, short term projects into sustainable projects with long term outcomes.
On the other hand, the UAWC rehabilitate 9 agricultural wells for people affected by war on the Gaza strip, within “strengthen the flexibility of the local community in the Gaza Strip” project, which is funded Australian government in partnership with World Vision.
The rehabilitation activities aim to strengthen the Palestinian farmers by helping them to replant their land which was destroyed by the occupation in previous wars on the Gaza strip.
