Advocacy department in UAWC implements a solidarity visit to Rafah fishermen.
On Sunday, July 14, the advocacy department of the Union of Agricultural Work Committees- UAWC implemented a solidarity tour for fishermen in the Rafah port in the southern Gaza Strip. The solidarity visit was attended by about 50 members of the agricultural local committees and the Palestinian Peasants’ Movement from various governorates. During the visit and checking the fishermen's boats and their tools, participants met and listen to many fishermen who spoke about their problems and suffering, which mainly resulted from the attacks of the Israeli Occupation Forces.
The fishermen local committee manager in Rafah Mr. Ibrahim Al-Zahouq welcomed the solidarity with fishermen and thanked the Union of Agricultural Work Committees for the continuous support of the fishermen and the defense of their rights, and he called for increasing the support and services provided to them in Rafah.
In his conversation with fishermen the director of Advocacy department in UAWC Saad Eddin Ziada promise to follow up the problems and needs of fishermen and to work to alleviate them and meet their needs as much as possible. While Ziada greeting the steadfastness of the fishermen and that they did not leave their work in fishing despite the crimes they face and the aggression by the Zionist occupation.
It is worth mentioning that in Rafah Port about 550 fishermen work at the Rafah port and have about 235 boats of different sizes.
