“Local Seed bank” team has provided local seeds to nine farmers, who are responsible for the bank’s reproduction units in the town of Dura in Hebron district. That is to reproduce and improve the quality of different vegetable varieties under the supervision and monitoring of the “Local Seed Bank” team. The SB team also identifies and collects endangered species in Palestine and verifies that they are truly indigenous and local.

Dura is known for its centuries-old agricultural history, known for its winter and summer rainfed crops, which led to great agricultural experience among the farmers. Its fertile environment has made it an appropriate ground to establish local seeds reproduction units for UAWC’s “Local Seed Bank”. These combined factors ensure the production of disease and pests-resistant varieties that are tolerant to water shortage, therefore adapt to the surrounding environment to a high degree.
