Israeli occupation forces issue a notice to confiscate a 600 dunum protected area in Hebron
Israeli occupation forces issued a notice to confiscate a pastoral land reserve that was developed by UAWC in 2005 in the Umm al-Kheir area east of Yatta, in the Hebron governorate. The land reserve is an area of 600 dunums, which was fenced and planted with 40,000 pastoral seedlings. UAWC and children from the Bedouin areas in the region also erected a 1 dunum public park in the land reserve. Umm al-Khair is constantly under attack by the Israeli settlers, protected by the Israeli army, who commit these acts of violence in order to drive out the Palestinian population from the area. This measure is a continuation of systematic displacement practiced by the Israeli government against Palestinians living in different parts of the West Bank. UAWC is currently following up the issue with human rights organizations in an attempt to counter such actions and support the Bedouin communities benefiting from the land reserve.
