Burkin Municipality honors UAWC for its role in the management of natural resources project
Ramallah- Burkin Municipality honored the Union of Agricultural Work Committees for its role in the management of natural resources project in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture.
Burkin’s municipality director, Mohammad Subah, stressed on the UAWC’s roles in the development sector through its projects that aimed to improve the small-scale farmers’ situations. On the other hand, the Jenin governorate’s representative, Mohammad Habach, confirmed that the Jenin governorate stand with and support such organizations and their roles in the agriculture sector.
The Ministry of Agriculture’s representatives, Ammar Salahat and Majdi Odeh, clarified the importance of the UAWC’s projects in the development of agriculture sector in term of their roles in generating job opportunities and improving small-scale farmers’ incomes
In the same context, UAWC’s project manager Saadah Abu Sheikha confirmed that the UAWC’s main priorities are land development projects especially in areas idified as “C” , while pointing out that the UAWC is implementing huge land development projects in cooperation with other civil organization and the Ministry of Agriculture.
Moreover, Abu Sheikha praised UAWC’s good relationship with the Ministry of Agriculture and the local community, especially the Palestinian farmers. As well as, he stressed on the importance of women’s roles in the agricultural sector and the urgent need to strengthen the steadfastness of the Palestinian farmers.
It is important to note that the management of natural resources project targeted reclamation of 183 donums in Burkin, in addition to the incision and rehabilitation of 1 km of agricultural roads , establishment of retaining walls, establishment of a number of water wells, and planting 2600 fruit trees.
