The Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC) concluded its 2017
olive harvesting campaign, which was launched under the slogan "Continuing
on with our Farmers’ steadfastness". The campaign was succeeded to help
farmers living in marginalized, threaten areas that is under the Israeli occupation
constant attacks. The campaign was able also to attract participants from local
and International levels.
The campaign was launched from the village of Qarawat Bani Hassan
in the governorate of Salfeet to support farmers whose land is located near the
settlement of Netafim and the Barkan industrial zone. These farmers are under
the Israeli settlers’ constant attacks.
The campaign also targeted the village of Jalloud from Nablus
governorate to support farmers, whose lands were confiscated to establish
settlement of Shilo. As well as, the campaign also supported farmers from Kufur
Malik and Al-Mughair villages. Then, the campaign moved to Azzun village in Qalqilya
governorate, whose land is located next to bypass road. The campaign also included
Qafeen village which is located near the Apartheid wall.
In the southern governorates, the campaign targeted the village of
Susiya in Hebron governorate to support farmers who are constantly being
attacked by the Israeli settlers and the occupation military power with the aim
of displacing them from the area. The campaign ended in Nahalin village in
Bethlehem governorate, which is one of the villages that is under the constant
risk of settlement expansion.
