UAWC supports 16 families in Jericho with income generating projects
Jericho – The
Union of Agricultural Work Committees implemented 16 projects in Jericho
governorate as part of the Productive Families Economic Empowering programme
(Deep), funded by the Islamic Development Bank through the United Nations
Development Programme (UNDP).
Yasin, the coordinator of the project at UAWC pointed out that the programme
aims at enhancing the economic and social conditions of the beneficiaries, confirming
that these projects aim to provide decent livelihoods and employment
opportunities for the families and their children after, through the continuity
of the projects.
On the process
of selecting the beneficiaries, Yasin explained that after obtaining lists from
the Ministry of Social Development, the human, physical, financial and social
conditions of each family were examined, taking into consideration the
beneficiaries’ experience and ability in managing a project, in addition to the
location of the project.
He also added
that after selecting the beneficiaries, they enrolled in an intensive training
course specialized in developing their management and accounting skills to be able
to run the project properly, in addition to being involved in course conducted
by UAWC’s staff, on how to prepare a work plan.
that the project which were provided for the beneficiaries varied between homeware,
to grocery stores, construction timber, fashion design workshop, gypsum décor,
developing a coffee shop, rehabilitation of a mobile shop, plumber gear,
gardening gear, tire repair shop, service office, greenhouse planting, photography
added that UAWC started implementing the fourth and final phase of the programme,
by giving 28 families in Nablus and Jenin a training course that will continue
for 8 days, reaching a total of 100 income generating projects for the years
2016-2017 in Jenin, Nablus, Jericho and Tubas.
