The Union of Agricultural Work
Committees in partnership with Bisan Center for Research and Development, organized
last Friday a voluntary work day in Al-Shosha’hla area near Al-Khader town in
Bethlehem, with the participation of “Al-Ard Lana” voluntary youth group.
180 volunteers participated in
the voluntary activity, which involved setting up a fence, building retaining
walls, and land clearing in Al-Shosha’hla area that is threatened to be confiscated
by the Israeli occupation, in addition to cleaning, painting murals and
repainting the sidewalks of the town.
The activity was concluded with a
briefing by the agricultural committee in Al-Khader to the volunteers about the
situation in the town, and the daily violations committed by the Israeli
occupation forces and their settlers against the residents, the latest being
the killing of 80-year-old Suleiman Hammad after being run over by a settler.
This voluntary activity is one of
many that UAWC conducts in collaboration with voluntary youth groups, aiming to
support Palestinian farmers, and reinforce the value of voluntary work amongst
