UAWC Organizes a Voluntary Work Day in Al-Kahder

The Union of Agricultural Work Committees in partnership with Bisan Center for Research and Development, organized last Friday a voluntary work day in Al-Shosha’hla area near Al-Khader town in Bethlehem, with the participation of “Al-Ard Lana” voluntary youth group.

180 volunteers participated in the voluntary activity, which involved setting up a fence, building retaining walls, and land clearing in Al-Shosha’hla area that is threatened to be confiscated by the Israeli occupation, in addition to cleaning, painting murals and repainting the sidewalks of the town.

The activity was concluded with a briefing by the agricultural committee in Al-Khader to the volunteers about the situation in the town, and the daily violations committed by the Israeli occupation forces and their settlers against the residents, the latest being the killing of 80-year-old Suleiman Hammad after being run over by a settler.

This voluntary activity is one of many that UAWC conducts in collaboration with voluntary youth groups, aiming to support Palestinian farmers, and reinforce the value of voluntary work amongst youth.
