UAWC supplies packing machines to agricultural cooperatives
On Tuesday, UAWC, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the Ministry of Agriculture delivered two fruits and vegetables packing machines to the packing house in Ain al-Bayda belonging to Ain al-Bayda cooperative. Two machines were also delivered to the Green Society in Tubas and to Burqeen Cooperative in Jenin governorate. This activity was conducted as part of the project to promote economic growth through the development of the agricultural value chain in the West Bank, and is implemented by FAO and UAWC under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture. Provision of the packing machinery aims to enhance the value of agricultural products produced in the northern Jordan Valley and the Jenin area, enabling better marketing of the products in a manner that is better suited to the requirements of the target markets and consumers. Additionally, this packing machinery is promised to benefit both farmers and consumers alike, as it shortens the marketing supply chain, and loss from transport and inadequate storage is substantially reduced. The supply process was carried out under the supervision of a committee formed by FAO, the Ministry of Agriculture, UAWC, and the beneficiary agricultural cooperatives. The committee was established in order to inspect the machines at the site and ensure that they conform to quality standards.
