28/08/2018 - Alongside the presence of representatives from Al-Sumu Municipality, UAWC and the Ministry of Social Development opened a children’s nursery in Al-Sumu, Hebron Municipality. The opening of the nursery forms part of UAWC’s Economic Empowerment Project that the organization carries with the cooperation of the Ministry of Social Development and with funding from the Islamic Development Bank (as part of the United Nations Development Program). The project aims towards empowering university and unemployed youth through projects allowing them to sustain themselves and their families.
Fuad Abu Saif, UAWC’s general director affirmed that UAWC, alongside its partners, would continue to implement its projects towards supporting citizens’ resilience on their land, and economically empowering them. This is of particular importance to the youth sector given the current situation categorized with high levels of unemployment, with the number of unemployed reaching 400,000.
Additionally, Enas Meswade, the economic empowerment project coordinator in the Ministry of Social Development for southern municipalities, affirmed that the ministry works towards having unique and useful projects that assist their owners, and through which they can form a successful example for those around them.
Nadia Mahareq, the project’s owner, thanked UAWC and the Ministry of Social Development and others for their work, and for supporting the project that will assist her and is greatly needed in the region.
