UAWC Implements Two Campaigns in Solidarity with the Jordan Valley Farmers
The Union of Agricultural Work Committees implemented two campaigns last week in solidarity with the Jordan Valley farmers, these campaigns come as art of “Defense of Palestinian Land Rights in the Jordan Valley” project, which aim to support the resilience of small farmers, and empower them to obtain their rights in accessing their lands, which comes within UAWC’s strategy and mission.
These campaigns were implemented in Marj Na’jeh village in Jericho, and Al-Bqai’a area in Tamoun near Toubas. Volunteers from UAWC and the agricultural committees participated in the two campaigns, where the volunteers were exposed to the harsh reality of people living in the Jordan Valley because of the Israeli Occupation’s practices, which aim to displace them, and Judaize and confiscate their lands for the benefit of expanding illegal settlements.
It is worth mentioning that this project is funded by the German Institute for Foreign Relations – ifa, and is in cooperation with Medico International; the project targets areas that are under the threat of confiscation through supporting farmers to access them by installing water pipelines, and irrigation systems, as well as distributing field seeds and conducting legal workshops.
